Dravite (Brown Tourmaline) Origin: Australia

Tourmaline is not a name for one mineral, but a group of minerals, varying in chemical composition, color and properites. They tend to crystalize in the hexagonal system, forming heavily striated crystals with good terminations. Individual crystals may be found with color-zoning along their length, or concentrically zoned, as in the well-known variety "watermelon tourmaline". It is another well-distributed mineral by location, with occurrences in the U.S., Sri Lanka, the former U.S.S.R., Brazil, Mexico, and various portions of Africa.

Dravite, or brown Tourmaline, in the Nepalese variety, makes a beautiful faceted gemstone. It helps one to form a subtle, but solid Earth connection. The variety we offer this month is from Australia.

Dravite is said also to bring a realzation of
the "God-within". Anyone who feels "off their
contacts" will be helped by holding a piece of
Dravite in their non-dominant hand; a feeling
of consolidation of energies will immediately
ensue. It protects one from the effects of bad karma, and is the most effective in grounding of this mineral family. Dravite is capable of balancing all chakras, even the ones specific to the spiritual and etheric bodies. (11th chakra and beyond.)

Plants also seem to love Dravite; indeed, some
say that faster plant growth may be stimulated
by placing a piece of Dravite on top of the soil
in the planter, or by burying a piece of the
stone in the soil of the plant you wish to
